The organizations below are focused on increasing recognition of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) careers for girls and women.
FabFems is a role-model program that allows young women to be partnered with a professional in a STEM career who wants to help mentor in her specific field of work. As a mentor, you can choose the level of involvement you are able to make and the geographic area you can serve.
Million Women Mentors Million Women Mentors supports the engagement of one million science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) mentors (male and female) to increase the interest and confidence of girls and women to persist and succeed in STEM programs and careers.
MWM is a collaboration of more than 58 partners (reaching over 30 million girls and women), 30 sponsors, and 30 state leadership teams. The Million Women Mentors Leadership Council is chaired by Cisco, PepsiCo, Sodexo, and Tata Consultancy Services. Over 200,000 pledges to mentor girls and women in STEM have been entered to date at www.millionwomenmentors.org.
We recommend that each mentor should plan 20 hours working with their mentee(s) over the course of one year. Our five suggested pathways for mentoring are: 1) Face to Face 2) Online, 3) Paid Internships and Apprenticeships 4) Workplace Mentoring at Your Company, 5) Sponsorship. You can connect through the MWM web portal directly with one or several of our 58 partners on the site that reach over 30 million girls and women or count your existing mentee relationships and collaborations through your existing channels. This technology portal will enable a matching database to MWM partners and broken down by city, state and additional demographics.
